Sunburn is Asia’s biggest dance music festival, and its Goa edition is the classic: a multi-day beachside blowout over a long weekend in late December 2026, 18 to 20 December. Goa at that time of year is close to perfect for it, hot and dry by day, with warm sun and sea breeze, then genuinely pleasant, breezy evenings that cool into the low 20s. It is the dry season, so rain is barely a factor, but two things will shape your outfit: strong sun on an exposed beach site all day, and a cool, breezy night once the sun is down. You are dressing for a hot beach afternoon and a mild, breezy night, on sand, for several days running. Why a tee is the hero here
Most of this what-to-wear series is about beating the cold. Sunburn Goa is a beach festival in the tropics, so the daytime job is the opposite: stay cool under strong sun. A heavyweight hoodie is the wrong tool for a Goa afternoon. What you want is a light, breathable tee with a print you actually like, something that moves air and dries fast, so you can spend a long, hot day on the sand without wilting.
That is the honest core of the daytime outfit: a good tee, sun protection and comfortable footwear do most of the work. Pick a tee you would happily be photographed in, because you will live in it, and save the warmer piece for the one thing the beach day cannot prepare you for, which is how breezy and cool it gets by the water once the sun goes down.
The night gets cooler than you think
Here is the part that catches first-timers on a tropical beach. The day is hot, so you pack for heat and nothing else. Then the sun sets, the sea breeze picks up, and by the small hours the temperature has slipped into the low 20s with a real wind coming off the water. On a beach with nothing to block it, that breeze bites more than the number suggests, especially when you have been sweating all day and the sun is long gone.

Anything heavy or non-breathable, first, because the beach heat will punish it. Jeans, which are miserable on hot sand. Anything you would be sad to see wrecked, because sand, salt and a packed beach are hard on clothes and things get lost easily. Getting around during the festival
Goa is spread out and the festival site sits on the coast, so how you get there and back shapes the night. Most people rent a scooter or use taxis and ride-hailing, and both get busy and pricey around a festival of this size, especially at closing time and across the festival weekend. Agree a meeting point with your group away from the main exit crush, keep some cash on you, and screenshot your accommodation and the route before your phone dies.
One practical tip that ties back to the clothes: keep your phone, cash and cards in something sealed and sand-proof, and pack a small, quick-dry towel. On a beach site both are worth their weight. Travel light with just your tee, a light layer and the essentials, and you can move between the sand, the bars and the ride home without dragging anything you do not need through the heat.
